A private house on the North Norfolk coast
Six rooms, a walled garden and the whole of the North Sea. An intimate clifftop retreat for two, a short walk from Cromer.

We didn't set out to build a hotel. We found an empty house on the edge of the land and spent four winters making it somewhere we would want to escape to ourselves.
Today The Saltmere House welcomes a handful of couples at a time: six rooms, a cottage at the end of the walled garden, a pantry that never closes and two acres of meadow running to the cliff edge.

Somewhere to escape to
Step through the garden door.
Each one shaped around its view: a copper bath facing the sea, a window seat above the cliff path, a round window in the eaves.

Big skies, soft cliffs, saltmarsh and pinewoods. The Saltmere House sits on the Norfolk Coast Path, between Cromer's Victorian pier and the quiet village of Overstrand.
06 — Moments

Coffee, sourdough and eggs from up the lane, carried to your door whenever you wake. No buffet, no sittings.

Out of the garden gate and along the Norfolk Coast Path, with a map of our favourite detours in your pocket.

A dressed Cromer crab, brown bread and a bench facing the pier. Or a hamper from the kitchen, if you'd rather stay put.

The light goes gold over the North Sea. The copper bath in The Lookout faces it directly.

A short, seasonal menu from the boats and the walled garden, at a table set just for two.

Blankets from the hall, a nightcap from the pantry and a sky with nothing in the way.

Brought to your room, from seven until late.
Cake, cheese, wine and a kettle, all on the house.
Everything for a day out, packed by the kitchen.
Because the best part of a weekend is the end of it.

09 — Book Your Stay
