I. The setting

Vows with the North Sea as witness.

The clifftop lawn runs from the edge of the walled garden to the edge of England. On a still day you can hear the sea below while you say your vows; on a breezy one, your veil will do something photographers dream about.

We keep the meadow long around a mown aisle, and the only decoration it really needs is whatever is growing that month.

II. The house

Yours, every room of it.

For your wedding, Saltmere closes to everyone else. The drawing room becomes your green room, the pantry your after-party, the garden your dance floor. Six rooms and The Old Dairy sleep fourteen of your people, so the morning after is as good as the day itself.

III. The ceremonyThree places to say yes

Choose your backdrop.

    01 · Spring to autumn

    The Cliff Lawn

Up to 40 guests seated on the grass above the sea. The one most couples choose, and for good reason.

  2. The walled garden with espaliered pears and lavender
    02 · Summer

    The Walled Garden

Among the espaliered pears and lavender, sheltered from the wind, with the long table waiting just beyond.

  3. The drawing room with a fire and shuttered sash windows onto the sea
    03 · Winter

    The Drawing Room

A fireside ceremony for up to 24, candles on every sill and the grey sea beyond the shutters.

Ceremonies at Saltmere are led by independent celebrants. Many couples complete the legal formalities at their local register office beforehand; we are happy to explain how it works.

IV. Dining

One long table, and everyone at it.

No top table, no seating politics. Just one long table in the walled garden, candles down the middle and a supper built around what the boats have landed and what the garden is giving that week.

Think crab and samphire, lamb from up the road, the first strawberries, and cheese from Norfolk dairies, followed by dancing on the lawn until the stars come out.

V. Atmosphere & photographyThe light does most of the work

Golden hour on the clifftop lasts longer here.

North Norfolk's big skies and soft evening light have drawn painters for generations. We will introduce you to photographers who know exactly where to stand.

VI. Accommodation

Wake up still at the party.

Every wedding at Saltmere includes two nights of exclusive use. Get ready in The Lookout with the sea in the mirror, send your families to Samphire and Sea Holly, and keep The Old Dairy for yourselves.
